Social services: Voluntary expertise services are given by the faculty of department of Obs & Gynae to the patients in the affiliated branches of Bangladesh Diabetic Association all over the country time to time (organized by BADAS).

Family Planning Centre, BIRDEM-2

Activities: July 2021 – June, 2022

Back Ground: A family planning centre has been opened in 2nd floor of BIRDEM-2 since April 2017 with the support of Family Planning Association of Bangladesh (FPAB). One Family Welfare Visitor (FWV) is placed on Sunday and Wednesday from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. One doctor of FPAB trained on Reproductive Health supervises her activity and supports her in cases of difficult situation.

Location: Room No. 318, 2nd floor (level-3), BIRDEM-2.

Objectives: To provide services: Family planning counseling and all contraceptive methods to OPD and admitted patients in the department.

To provide training:  to undergraduate and post graduate medical students, student- nursing and nurses & doctors working in the department of Obstetrics &Gynaecology.

The FWV provides following services:

  • Morning round in the ward and counseling with the pregnant patients and mothers regarding family planning options and breast feeding.
  • Counseling of new and old clients who come to the centre.
  • Provides contraceptives mostly free of charge

 

 

There is arrangement for providing incentives for the Govt. provided contraceptives as per the provision of Govt. of Bangladesh.

The clients of the centre includes OPD and indoor patients and female service providers of the BIRDEM-2.

All concerned of the dept. including Professors, Associate Professors, Assistant Professors, Resident Surgeons and all Medical Officers are co-operating.

Head of the Department of Obs & Gynae observes the activities with the support and patronization of Director General of BIRDEM General Hospital.
