BIRDEM Academy is a postgraduate institution of BIRDEM General Hospital for conducting postgraduate courses for medical graduates. DAB, Diabetic Association of Bangladesh established BIRDEM Academy in 1986 with a view to creating skilled manpower in the field of Endocrinology & Metabolism to improve the care of patients in the country. Now BIRDEM conduct more than 18 (Eighteen) residency & non-residency postgraduate courses like MD, MS, M.Phil. Diploma & Ph.D. in different subjects under University of Dhaka and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU).

• To Create requisite specialized quality manpower of high ethical standards for manning these institutions and for the country.
• Specialized manpower to be created for providing diabetic healthcare and other specialized Medicare
• To Develop leadership in healthcare through dedicated and transparent management system.

VISION

• To provide affordable healthcare services for all people.
• Creating skilled specialized manpower in different disciplines of healthcare to give treatment for all patients
• To up to date postgraduate medical education and to make academic environment for graduate trainee in BIRDEM General Hospital.

Currently, the admission test of postgraduate courses of all Institutions of Bangladesh is conducted by BSMMU centrally. Selected candidates by BSMMU are admitted in BIRDEM Academy. Residency Courses starts in March and non-residency courses starts in July session in every year respectively.

BIRDEM Academy publishes BIRDEM Medical Journal since 2011. BIRDEM Medical Journal is published twice in a year (January & July).

The Academic Council of BIRDEM recommends the general educational policies of BIRDEM Academy is to maintain and help to achieve high educational standards. It also supervises and monitors the rotatory training of Residency Courses. The name of the honorable members of the committee are-

Institutional Review Board (IRB):

Institutional Review Board (IRB), is a committee of BIRDEM, established to view and approve research proposals or thesis protocols for MD, MS, M.Phil. and Ph.D. students of BIRDEM Academy and for FCPS students and trainees. This committee sets for reviewing the research proposal or thesis protocol twice a year, one is held in September and the other in March. Students should submit their research proposal or thesis protocol before 20 September and/or 20 March each year. The honorable members of the committee are-

BIRDEM offers clinical training for medical graduates in different clinical departments of BIRDEM General Hospital as an Honorary Medical Officer (HMO). There are more than 20 (Twenty) different departments of BIRDEM General Hospital, is affiliated for FCPS/MCPS training by BCPS. The name of the department that are affiliated by BCPS:
