In addition to the diagnostic services, the department provides routine bacteriological quality assessment of operation theaters, ICU, hemodialysis unit, SCABU and wards. The department runs the Infection control programme of the hospital.

  1. Teaching:

The departmental staff regularly takes part in examination and teaching of post graduate and undergraduate students. The department is also involved in teaching of MD/MS (Biochemistry, Immunology) subsidiary courses and BSC nursing students.

Three students were admitted in Phase A part in March, 2020 session in MD (Microbiology) residency courses under BIRDEM academy.
